Students participate in homecoming kickball competition

Shouts of spirit rang out at Lewis and Young Park Monday Sept. 16 as students and teachers alike participated in a little friendly competition. In the midst of homecoming, all participants of the kickball tournament were eager to build class unity and have fun while doing it.

“[It] gives us an opportunity to talk, interact and get to know each other better . . . so we can act as a team” Julia Walker, freshman, said.

After each grade was given a chance to battle it out on the field, the winning team, the seniors, had the pleasure of taking

on a group of LHS faculty and staff.

“I’m glad the teachers get to exhibit good sportsmanship for the students,” Amy Wright, school guidance counselor, said.

The close relationships formed over the years between the graduating class and the teachers were apparent through the good-natured ribbing and competitiveness shown by both teams. In the end, class of 2014 took the well-deserved title of champions.

“Our senior class is being pulled together with school spirit in a way never before,” said Lexi Whaley, senior.

After their win, the graduating class took a victory lap, exhibiting great pride to be a part of the homecoming festivities.
